KGaA, Munich (, acquires medium-sized companies and parts of groups with headquarter in Europe that are being sold in the course of a repositioning process at their owners and show a clear potential for operational improvement. Mutares actively supports and develops its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams as well as through acquisitions of strategic add-ons. Our goal is to acquire companies with a turnover of EUR 50 to 500 million. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.


  • Routinely work and support the restructuring on site
  • Strong financial analysis and models
  • Improve cash management on site (build 13 weeks cash flow forecasts, cash trackers)
  • Work closely with the PMO lead and provide financial input
  • Preparation and execution of loan agreements, cap calls, cash repatriations
  • Improve financial statement closing and other processes
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements
  • Interaction with auditors, financial advisers, banks, insurances etc
  • Liaise with internal and external tax consultants and Mutares accounting team
  • Desire to continuously improve skill set to a more advanced level to broaden scope of role
  • Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of restructuring over time, and find new ways to enhance the value brought to the organization


  • Finance related degree from a reputable university /business school
  • Professional qualification (such as ACCA, CFA or similar) is a Plus
  • International work experience is a prerequisite
  • Previous employer: consulting firm (preferably with restructuring experience) or a Big4 audit firm (ideally with FDD, ODD or restructuring experience)
  • Proven experience in supervising and managing teams
  • First experience gained in working with operational and finance teams within distressed organizations
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills, able to prepare well laid out, easily understood analysis and presentations
  • Experienced in building integrated financial models
  • Able to build on their existing skill set and develop knowledge of all restructuring offerings
  • Able to work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English and one other European language (particularly in German, French, Italian)
