Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, Munich (, acquires medium-sized companies and parts of groups with headquarter in Europe that are being sold in the course of a repositioning process at their owners and show a clear potential for operational improvement. Mutares actively supports and develops its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams as well as through acquisitions of strategic add-ons. Our goal is to acquire companies with a turnover of EUR 50 to 500 million. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.

Within our operations team, we are looking to hire a leader with a successful track record in Sales and Marketing. This role will be located at portfolio companies, on site across Europe.

Sales & Marketing Manager / Director (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • Support our portfolio companies in transforming their Sales and/or Marketing organization and the results they deliver
  • Diagnose problems and develop concrete, quantified improvement initiatives
  • Realize hands-on quick wins and minimize cash bleeding
  • Elaborate a sales strategy to increase revenues and profitability, e.g., by entering new markets, launching new products and executing price adjustments
  • Review customer base and product portfolio and drive rationalization and/or repositioning
  • Set up and manage a local task force involving all relevant stakeholders
  • Take on interim line management roles if required
  • Coach and develop others, capitalizing on the strengths of each team member

Your Profile

  • Completed university degree, preferably within top 20% and/or top tier university
  • International experience in Sales & Marketing role in industry or in consulting
  • Evidence of strong career progression
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate international teams (preferably in turnaround situations)
  • Good command of financial analysis and management accounting, incl. P&L analysis, in order to identify and prioritize necessary measures for improvement
  • Entrepreneurial mindset (fast, pragmatic, sustainable) and ability to think “outside the box”
  • Professional communication and presentation of information, adapted to audience
  • Willingness to travel (typically Mo-Thu, across Europe)
  • Fluency in English and one other European language (particularly in German, Spanish, French, Italian)
  • Proven track record of delivering value creation in a Private Equity portfolio company is a plus
