KGaA, Munich (, acquires medium-sized companies and parts of groups with headquarter in Europe that are being sold in the course of a repositioning process at their owners and show a clear potential for operational improvement. Mutares actively supports and develops its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams as well as through acquisitions of strategic add-ons. Our goal is to acquire companies with a turnover of EUR 50 to 500 million. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.

Within our OPS team, we are looking to hire a leader who has a successful track record with Project-/ Launch-Management and continuous improvement attitude, and with an entrepreneurial mindset. This role will be located at portfolio companies, on site across Europe.

Project-Management Manager/Director (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • Initiates out of actual development additional projects for improvement, moderation of internal problem-solving meetings including action follow-up
  • Drive change management processes for further value creation
  • Fills interim line position roles if required
  • Leading / supporting (cross functional) project teams to ensure successful project / product launches in our portfolio companies incl. project status reporting internal/external
  • Escalation and risk management during project / product launches – enhanced “Task Force Management”
  • Application of VSM to define and execute industrialization projects (Layout, Material flow, CAPEX evaluation, e.g.)
  • Technical feasibility and risk analyses in cooperation with the respective specialist departments
  • Auditing of projects in our portfolio companies to identify project status, deviations, and risks to ensure project / product launches
  • Coaching and development of the project management and project management standards in our portfolio companies
  • Development of MUX internal standards for further use in the portfolio companies and apply best practice
  • Makes decisions and advises the portfolio company using advanced understanding of the core drivers of the business
  • Examines issues thoroughly and holistically
  • Uses a systematic approach to quickly and logically identifying issues across situations

  • Brings in the appropriate experts when needed

Your Profile

  • Completed studies, preferably mechanical engineering or equal education/study with advanced business knowledge
  • At least 5 years of relevant operational experience as Project-/ Launch and/or Task Force Manager gained in automotive, mechanical engineering, construction or consumer industry
  • expert knowledge in quality, production, launch management, industrialization, supply chain and optimization of production processes through systematic problem-solving approaches (Task Force Management)
  • Experience in product / process management with a focus on maturity level assurance
  • Project Management or Auditor (e.g. GPM Project Management, VDA 6.3) certification is a plus
  • International work experience
  • Ensure customer and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Familiar with the use of controlling instruments, such as P&L analysis, in order to identify the necessary countermeasures for improvements
  • Proven track record of delivering value creation in a Private Equity Portfolio Company is a plus.
  • Knows how to leverage expertise in a business context to be impactful
  • Professional communication and presentation of information, with audience-appropriate adaption
  • Must have an ability and willingness to travel (potentially from Day 1) on sites, across European regions, at short notice as part of the working week
  • Mindset is entrepreneurially with the willingness to take decisions (fast, pragmatic, sustainable) combined with “Hands on mentality” and “thinking out of the box”
  • Fluency in English and one other European language (particularly in German, French, Italian)
