KGaA, Munich (, acquires medium-sized companies and parts of groups with headquarter in Europe that are being sold in the course of a repositioning process at their owners and show a clear potential for operational improvement. Mutares actively supports and develops its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams as well as through acquisitions of strategic add-ons. Our goal is to acquire companies with a turnover of EUR 50 to 500 million. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.

Within our OPS team, we are looking to hire a leader who has a successful track record with Quality Management and continuous improvement attitude, and with an entrepreneurial mindset. This role will be located at portfolio companies, on site across Europe.

Quality Management & CIP Manager/Director (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

  • Supports portfolio companies in different phases noticeably in the area of quality management, but also more extensive in the area of process improvement and stabilization
  • Development of MUX internal standards for further use in the portfolio companies and apply best practice
  • Task force management with the involvement of necessary stakeholders
  • Supports certification processes and independently conducts audits
  • Fills interim line position roles if required
  • Gives clear direction to the team and executes projects according to established team norms, defined roles, and expectations
  • Makes decisions and advises the portfolio company using advanced understanding of the core drivers of the business
  • Uses a systematic approach to quickly and logically identifying issues across situations
  • Examines issues thoroughly and holistically
  • Initiates out of actual development additional projects for improvement
  • Coaches and develops others; capitalizes on the strengths of each team member on projects
  • Brings in the appropriate experts when needed

Your Profile

  • Completed studies, preferably mechanical engineering or equal education/study with advanced business knowledge
  • At least 5 years of international experience in quality management, continuous improvement execution, operations management and / or production management / planning ideally in restructuring environments
  • A high level of education and experience in the field of quality (Certifications, Audits internal / external, SQA, Launch Management, APQP, etc.) with the understanding and necessity of required standards
  • A qualification as a certified auditor as well as in-depth specialist knowledge in the area of lean management and tools are an advantage
  • Familiar with the use of controlling instruments, such as P&L analysis, in order to identify the necessary countermeasures for improvements
  • The approach and way of thinking support the continuous improvement process in an exemplary manner
  • Mindset is entrepreneurially with the willingness to take decisions (fast, pragmatic, sustainable) combined with “Hands on mentality” and “thinking out of the box”
  • Proven track record of delivering value creation in a Private Equity Portfolio Company is a plus
  • Knows how to leverage expertise in a business context to be impactful
  • Professional communication and presentation of information, with audience-appropriate adaption
  • Must have an ability and willingness to travel (potentially from Day 1 on sites, across European regions, at short notice as part of the working week
  • Fluency in English and one other European language (particularly in German, French, Italian)
